Volunteer for the Humane Society of Cowlitz County

Thank you for your interest in becoming a volunteer for the Humane Society of Cowlitz County. Since we are a non-profit agency we depend on volunteers like yourself for many of our activities. These are the areas in which we need volunteers:

PET SOCIALIZATION: Providing companionship to shelter animals awaiting adoption (walking, brushing, etc. - required adult companionship for youth under 14 years old)
HUMANE EDUCATION: Assist within the community in providing education on animal issues and the responsibilities of pet ownership.
ADOPTION COUNSELOR: Assist the staff in matching homeless animals with new owners.
GREETERS: Meet with customers entering the shelter to explain adoption procedures, lost pet information and assist the customers in pet selection.
ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT: Assist the staff with accounting, preparing reports and filing information.
DRIVERS: provide assistance in picking up supplies, taking pets to veterinary clinics and delivering equipment to fund raisers and special events.
FUND RAISERS: Assist in activities to raise money for shelter projects. Bake sales, dog washes, etc.
COMMUNITY EVENTS: Assist in set-up and operation of displays for community events. Go-4th, Pet Trek, County Fair, etc.
EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT: Training and aiding the community in the evacuation of animals during natural disasters.
SHELTER CARETAKERS: Gardening, carpentry, care taking, maintaining the pet walk.
LOST PET TRACKER: Cross-reference lost and found pet reports, newspaper reports with animals held by the shelter.
